This is a bi-national, sector-leading conference focused on refugee trauma recovery and resettlement practice, policy, research, and lived experience. It brings together practitioners, researchers, community leaders, and government stakeholders from across Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.
The 4th Australia and New Zealand Refugee Trauma Recovery in Resettlement Conference is more than a professional gathering. It is a rare and critical opportunity to unite 900 people who have dedicated their lives to healing the trauma of displacement.
In a world facing unprecedented levels of forced migration - with over 120 million people displaced globally - this conference exists to ensure that the responses to trauma are not only evidence-based but deeply humane. It is a place where compassion meets innovation, where practice meets policy, and where stories of survival are met with strategies for systemic change.
This is not just a conference about work. It’s about making the world more liveable for some of its most vulnerable people. Each presentation, each connection made, and each piece of knowledge shared has the power to improve real outcomes for individuals and families recovering from the devastating effects of war, torture, and displacement.
The Forum of Australian Services for Survivors of Torture and Trauma (FASSTT) is a network of Australia’s eight specialist rehabilitation agencies that work with survivors of torture and trauma who have come to Australia from overseas. Most clients of FASSTT agencies have come to Australia as refugees or humanitarian entrants. There is one FASSTT member agency in each state and territory of Australia.
