Intergenerational trauma, deeply rooted in systemic inequities, colonisation, and societal oppression, continues to affect individuals and families, perpetuating cycles of silence, shame, and disconnection. This workshop, Healing Across Generations, offers participants the opportunity to learn and practice tools from Therapeutic Life Story Work (TLSW) to address these challenges while fostering resilience, connection, and hope across generations.
This interactive session equips participants with practical storytelling tools to address trauma in sustainable ways. Key themes include breaking cycles of silence and shame, fostering family and community support networks, and building resilience through narrative integration. Participants will explore how cohesive narratives can empower individuals to reclaim their identities and adapt their stories over time for ongoing healing.
The workshop emphasises the importance of creating safe, trauma-informed spaces where individuals can revisit and deepen their life story work. Practitioners will gain skills to adopt relational, embodied, and intersectional approaches, ensuring relevance across diverse populations. By acknowledging systemic inequities, the session provides strategies to foster collective healing and inclusivity.
Expressive and embodied practices, such as mark making, movement, and somatic approaches, are highlighted to ensure holistic and personalised healing. The workshop also integrates the intersectional intersubjective space, addressing systemic factors and honouring diverse identities to promote equity and inclusivity.
Aligned with the theme of Sustaining the Work, this session provides actionable insights for understanding and addressing intergenerational trauma in both body and mind. Participants will leave with practical tools to support individuals and communities in their collective healing journeys, ensuring that the work continues to ripple across lifetimes. Together, we can break cycles, honour resilience, and create spaces for hope and connection to thrive.
